Who We Are + What We Do

The Awaken Project Gap Year Program

…is an eight month (beginning of September to beginning of May) discipleship gap year program that invites young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 to live together in intentional community, center their lives around the daily study of Scripture, corporate prayer, consistent service, cross country travel, and infectious joy.

Objectives of the Gap Year Program

Our gap year program seeks to give students the following throughout the duration of the program:

  • A practical skill set for inductive Bible study in both individual and communal contexts.

  • Grounded friendships and social skills that are developed through living in residential community.

  • Consistent and intentional mentoring throughout the entire year.

  • Legitimate experience from traveling with a ministry team and executing programming (Quake).

  • Leadership development through individual and communal service projects.

  • A grounded, tested, and supported faith in Jesus Christ.

Who we think should consider our gap year program:

  • Young adults looking to travel affordably in a Christian ministry context.

  • Christ followers who desire to connect and partner with other young leaders in ministry.

  • Anyone who is interested in ministry and does not know where/how to become involved with ministry.

  • High school seniors who want to do something different before college.

  • College students who need a break from the rigors of undergraduate studies.

  • College graduates who feel like they missed out on opportunities (i.e. study abroad, intentional Christian community) while in school.

  • Anyone looking to invest in community, get away from the beaten path, and do so in the name of Jesus.
